FJCCI President Aditya Malhotra said that during the vote counting period, when the shops and godowns of the agricultural market are acquired by the administration, business operations remain disrupted for nearly four months. He added that this problem is not limited to Ranchi but also affects other districts where the district administration uses agricultural market premises for election counting purposes.
Malhotra informed that the Chamber had earlier filed a petition on this issue in the Jharkhand High Court, which had issued appropriate directions. However, no concrete action has been taken so far, despite repeated requests to the State Election Commission and the district administration. He expressed concern that, for the upcoming municipal elections, the administration might again acquire the shops and godowns of the Pandara Agricultural Market, which has caused anxiety among traders.
During the meeting, the delegation also discussed the need to expedite the long-pending municipal election process in the state. In addition, they requested a review of the cash-carrying limit for business transactions and sought relaxation for traders who can provide valid transaction proof.
State Election Commissioner Alka Tiwari listened to the delegation’s concerns seriously and assured positive action on the issues raised.
The delegation included FJCCI President Aditya Malhotra, General Secretary Rohit Agarwal, Joint Secretary Navjot Alang, and Treasurer Anil Agarwal.
