Cyber Fraudster Arrested for Duping ₹3.75 Crore Through Fake Trading App

Jharkhand/Ranchi (M Bharat 24 News Live): The Cyber Crime Police Station of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has cracked a major online fraud case and arrested a cybercriminal who duped a victim of ₹3.75 crore by luring him into fake trading and investment schemes in the name of reputed financial institutions.

DSP Neha Bala informed that on September 10, a victim had lodged a written complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station, stating that the accused cheated him through a fake investment and trading app called Fyers HNI, under the guise of legitimate financial trading. Based on the complaint, a case (FIR No. 109/25) was registered.

During investigation, the accused Dip Majumdar, a resident of South Dinajpur district in West Bengal, was arrested. Police recovered mobile phones, SIM cards, and WhatsApp chats related to the fraud from his possession.

DSP Bala said the accused had added the victim to a WhatsApp group named “Fyers Securities Pvt. Ltd.”, where attractive trading offers were being shared regularly. Later, the victim was asked to download a fake “Fyers” app, where bogus profits were displayed to gain his trust.

Believing the false profits, the victim transferred around ₹3.75 crore to various bank accounts. Police are currently interrogating the accused, and efforts are underway to trace other members of the cyber fraud network.
