Congress workers stage protest over new appointments

Jharkhand/East Singhbhum(H.S): A fierce battle has erupted within the District Congress over the new appointments. Following the release of the list of district presidents announced by the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress, a large section of party workers in Jamshedpur openly protested. On Wednesday, dozens of workers staged a peaceful protest near Gandhi Ghat, Mango Bridge, expressing their displeasure with the organization's decision.

Protesting leaders say that workers were consulted as part of the Organization Creation Campaign, and an observer also submitted a detailed report, but these recommendations were ignored in the selection process. They allege that the district president was appointed based on the recommendations of party MLAs and ministers, raising questions about fairness and transparency.

District Vice President Bablu Jha stated that 72 candidates had applied from East Singhbhum, but none of their opinions were considered. He warned that if the observer's report was not made public, there would be a violent agitation. He even said that if the organization's neglect continues, he will be forced to commit suicide.

District Secretary Ajitesh Ujjain also disagreed with this issue, saying that opposing wrong decisions is essential to strengthening the organization. According to him, the new district president has been active in Ranchi Rural for a long time and has limited contact with local workers.

According to party sources, the recommendations of two former MLAs have been given priority in the new appointment, one of whom rebelled against the Congress and contested from AJSU in the 2019 elections, while the other was once close to BJP leaders. Debate has also intensified on social media regarding this entire incident. Particularly, there is discussion about the new district president arriving in a red car during the swearing-in ceremony and whose vehicle it was.

Local Congress members say that if the party leadership continues to ignore the sentiments of grassroots workers, the impact could be felt in the upcoming elections.
