DIG directs increased vigilance in border areas in view of by-election


Jharkhand/East Singhbhum: The district administration is on high alert in view of the Ghatshila Assembly by-election in the district. A high-level interstate and interdistrict meeting was held on Wednesday at UCIL Bhawan, Jadugoda, chaired by Kolhan DIG Anuranjan Kispotta, to ensure a fair, transparent, and free election process.

Present at the meeting were District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, East Singhbhum, Karna Satyarthi, Deputy Commissioner, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Nitish Kumar Singh, SSP, East Singhbhum, Piyush Pandey, SP, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Mukesh Lunayat, Rural SP, East Singhbhum, Rishabh Garg, Superintendent of Police, Railway, Tatanagar, and representatives of the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from Jhargram, West Medinipur, Purulia, and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha in West Bengal.

The meeting placed special emphasis on strengthening coordination at the interstate and interdistrict levels to maintain a peaceful environment and law and order during the Assembly by-elections. The DIG directed increased vigilance in border areas, intensive vehicle checking, strict monitoring of anti-social elements, joint patrolling, and ensuring 24-hour surveillance at border checkpoints.

Violations of the code of conduct or illegal activities were immediately reported to the control room and senior officials to ensure effective and prompt action.
