57 students received gold medals, 822 received degrees at Nilamber Pitambar University Convocation

 

Jharkhand/Palamu: The third convocation of Nilamber Pitambar University was held at the GLA College Stadium on Monday. Jharkhand Governor and Chancellor Santosh Kumar Gangwar was the chief guest, while State Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, Palamu MP Vishnu Dayal Ram, Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh, former Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari, Vice Chancellor Dr. Dinesh Kumar Singh, and other university officials attended the ceremony.

Prior to this, the Governor was presented with a guard of honor. Deputy Commissioner Sameera S welcomed the Governor on the occasion. The Governor inaugurated the Maharishi Vishwamitra Central Library on the university campus. Following this, the Governor inaugurated the program.

At the event, the Vice Chancellor of the University welcomed all the guests.

At the event, the Governor and Chancellor, along with other guests, presented gold medals to 57 out of 62 students. Arrangements were made to confer degrees to 1,070 students at the event. Of these, 143 were awarded to PG and vocational students and 679 to UG students. Five PhD students were also awarded medals.

On the occasion, the Governor and Chancellor stated that instructions have been issued to all universities in Jharkhand to ensure students receive their degrees on time and conduct regular classes. He expressed surprise that Nilamber Pitambar University has been established for 16 years, but convocations have been held only three times. This indicates that students have not received their degrees on time.

The Governor stated that the state has the highest number of gold medal winners among girls, which reflects a developed India. Initiatives are needed to ensure quality education in Jharkhand. He directed the university management to release the academic calendar. He stated that the state of higher education in the state is poor and needs to be addressed.

Finance Minister Calls on Students to Enter Politics

On the occasion, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore stated that only education can bring about change in society. Education plays a crucial role in eliminating feelings of hatred. All people in society are equal. After receiving higher education, people say they want to become high-ranking officials, but they don't say they want to become MLAs or MPs. He advised educated individuals to participate in politics and enter the Assembly and Parliament.

He further stated that only 157 people have registered for PhDs in 18 years, which is sad. The university should move forward. He asked what the university's Geology Department's vision is for water conservation in Palamu. The Palamu region is drought-prone. The Minister urged the university to do something different and innovative. Only 16 percent of students in the Palamu region pursue higher education after passing intermediate. A University Commission will be formed in Jharkhand to appoint teachers.

The Finance Minister urged the Governor that there is a severe shortage of teachers in colleges. Gold medalists should be included in the teaching work. The Governor directed the Vice Chancellor to this effect.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Dinesh Kumar Singh stated that this is the university's third convocation ceremony during his tenure. He stated that the university faces a lack of resources. Previously, the university was unable to hold convocations due to a lack of a team. However, now they have a better team. He also announced, at the Finance Minister's suggestion, that the university's gold medalists would be included in teaching positions according to the faculty.

Palamu MP BD Ram and Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh also addressed the ceremony.

Deputy Commissioner Sameera S, Superintendent of Police Reshma Rameshan, District Council Vice President Alok Kumar Singh alias Tutu, along with several university officials and hundreds of students were present.
