Babulal Marandi writes to Chief Minister Soren demanding a CBI investigation into the liquor scam

Jharkhand/Ranchi: BJP state president Babulal Marandi has launched a scathing attack on the state government over the highly controversial liquor scam in Jharkhand. Marandi has written to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, demanding a CBI investigation into the entire matter.

In his letter, written on Thursday, Marandi alleged that the scam has resulted in revenue losses worth hundreds of crores of rupees and that suspended IAS officers, top officials of the State Beverage Corporation, and the Chhattisgarh liquor mafia are involved. He named prominent figures such as suspended IAS officer Vinay Kumar Choubey, former IAS officer Amit Prakash, then-JSBCL General Manager Sudhir Kumar Das, businessman Siddharth Singhania, and Vidhu Gupta, who supplied fake holograms.

Marandi also raised serious questions about the role of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He alleged that the Anti-Corruption Bureau deliberately failed to file a charge sheet on time, allowing all the main accused to easily obtain bail from the court. Marandi says this isn't a simple mistake, but a well-planned conspiracy to protect the accused.

He also raised questions about the recent suspicious transfers within the ACB. Marandi asked who the officers removed from the ACB were working for in the liquor scam. At whose behest were they posted and then removed? Where are they currently posted and in whose interests are they working? Marandi said this reshuffle indicates that the government, instead of delving into the scam, is focused on protecting its close associates.

He demanded a CBI investigation into the entire liquor scam and the resulting revenue loss, the role of ACB officers who failed to file the chargesheet on time, the reasons behind the ACB transfers, the activities of the officers, and the alleged benami properties. The BJP state president warned that if the government doesn't take immediate and concrete action in this matter, it will be assumed that this massive scam enjoys the direct patronage of the Chief Minister.
