Falgu river overflows in Bihar due to rain in Jharkhand, Water Resources Department issues high alert

 

Patna: After continuous rains in neighbouring state Jharkhand, record breaking rain water has been received, the Water Resources Department has issued a high alert regarding the Falgu river bordering the state. Due to excessive water discharge in Falgu, there is a flood-like situation in Nalanda, Jehanabad and Gaya. Jamindari dam has been damaged at nine places.
The Lokain river passing through the western area of ​​Nalanda district has also overflown. Apart from this, the Muhane river is also in spate. Four feet of water of Falgu river is flowing near Milkiper village in Jehanabad district on the Ekangarasarai-Jehanabad main road. Due to this, the movement of vehicles has come to a halt. Direct contact of Nalanda with Jehanabad has been cut off. Not only this, flood water is flowing over the Ekangarasarai-Masaurhi road near Okri village. The movement of vehicles has stopped.

Water is continuously spreading in the fields due to broken embankments

Thousands of acres of thriving paddy crops have been submerged. Flood water has entered about 12 villages of Ekangarasarai and Hilsa. People are taking shelter on the roofs of their houses and nearby high places. A population of ten thousand has been affected by the flood. Due to erosion near Lalbagh on Mandach-Meenabazar Road in Ekangarasarai, the connection of 6 villages with the block headquarters has been cut off. Due to flood, two feet of water is flowing above the road for two kilometers near Ready Bridge, Damodarpur and Shohrapur villages on Hilsa-Pabheri road. More than 20 thousand population of about 20-25 villages in Jehanabad has been affected.
