Ranchi: Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari called an emergency meeting at Sadar Hospital in Ranchi regarding the possibility of Kovid infection, in which brainstorming was done with health officials, doctors, nursing staff and specialist doctors of all districts. This meeting was called in view of the re-increase in Kovid-19 cases in the country and the identification of new variants NB.1.8.1 and LF.7.
After the meeting, Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari said that the situation is completely under control. There is no need for any kind of panic. I myself am constantly monitoring the situation. The Health Department has been put on alert mode and all preparations have been completed.
As soon as the death of a senior citizen from Kovid was confirmed in Bengaluru, Dr. Ansari took immediate action in Jharkhand and directed that Kovid testing centers should be immediately set up at all airports, railway stations and bus stands. If found positive, the person should be immediately admitted to the hospital and proper treatment should be ensured.
Dr. Ansari informed that a Covid case has also been reported in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in which the patient is of old age and has pre-existing health problems. He said, "This infection is particularly affecting the elderly and people suffering from respiratory problems, so caution is necessary."
All the civil surgeons of the state have been instructed to remain alert and prepared. The minister also clarified that the closed oxygen plants of the state will be started immediately so that no emergency situation has to be faced in future.
The Health Minister has cancelled the leave of doctors in view of Covid and all health workers have to remain on alert. He also thanked the nursing staff for their service and assured that the government will honor the doctors and nurses doing excellent work.
Dr Ansari appealed to the public
As a doctor, my appeal to all of you is to be cautious, wear a mask, avoid crowds, take vitamins and nutritious food so that your immunity remains strong. It is the responsibility of all of us to stay safe and keep others safe too.
He said that the state government is waiting for the new guidelines of the central government, and as soon as instructions are received, immediate steps will be taken. Although no formal advisory has been issued at the moment, citizens have been strictly advised to remain alert and stay away from rumours. This is not the time to panic, but to unite and show awareness and discipline. The Jharkhand government and the health department are fully prepared for every situation.
