Ranchi, September 11, 2026: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Ranchi, to ensure smooth traffic management in the city during the upcoming festive season. Police officials, traffic DSPs, traffic station in-charges and traffic personnel attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed traffic arrangements for upcoming festivals, including Ganesh Puja, Karma Puja, Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja, as well as cricket matches scheduled to be held in October. Necessary directions were issued to maintain smooth traffic movement during these events.
The Traffic Police will take action under the Motor Vehicles Act against vehicles using black-tinted glass, fancy number plates, modified silencers and pressure horns. Action will also be taken against racing, drunk driving, overloading of passengers and vehicles being driven by minors.
A special campaign will be conducted against vehicles displaying taped or improperly written number plates. Police will also take action against vehicles parked unnecessarily on roads and against autos and e-rickshaws being parked at intersections, causing traffic congestion.
Traffic station in-charges have been directed to ensure that deployed personnel properly perform their duties. Coordination will also be established with the Ranchi Municipal Corporation team to remove shops, carts and other encroachments from roads.
In areas prone to traffic jams during rainfall, traffic officials will remain mobile and deploy QRT and enforcement teams to manage traffic. During school opening and closing hours, traffic station in-charges will also remain on patrol in their respective areas and take action against vehicles parked unnecessarily at intersections.
The Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Ranchi, directed all police officials present at the meeting to ensure strict compliance with the instructions issued for maintaining a smooth and safe traffic system in the city.
