Negligence in work will not be tolerated; no eligible citizen should be left out of the voter list: K. Ravi Kumarar

Chief Electoral Officer holds online meeting with district election officials; issues instructions to support BLOs

Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar held a review meeting on Friday via Google Meet from the Election House with all District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Deputy Election Officers, and BLO Supervisors across the state.

During the meeting, issues and queries related to the filling of enumeration forms by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and their subsequent digitization—part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program for the voter list—were addressed. The Chief Electoral Officer explained the process to the officials using a presentation and issued necessary guidelines.

K. Ravi Kumar stated that BLOs are visiting households to provide enumeration forms to voters, and digitization work is proceeding simultaneously. He clearly stated that any laxity in the SIR work would not be tolerated. All officials must ensure that no eligible Indian citizen is deprived of having their name included in the voter list.

He informed that two copies of the enumeration form would be prepared for every voter to be included in the 2026 voter list. Voters who submit their filled and signed enumeration forms—either to the BLO or via online channels—will have their names included in the draft voter list scheduled for publication on August 5.

The Chief Electoral Officer instructed officials to extend full support to the BLOs working in the field and to earnestly fulfill the responsibilities assigned under the Special Intensive Revision program.

He mentioned that the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has released a series of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to address the doubts of voters and election-related personnel. A third series in this set will also be released soon.

State Training Nodal Officer Dev Das Datta, Deputy Election Officer Dheeraj Kumar Thakur, Under Election Officer Sunil Kumar, and other officials from the Election Department were present at the meeting.
