Interstate gang targeting mobile towers busted; 4 arrested, goods worth lakhs and a car recovered

Ranchi Police have busted an organized gang involved in stealing valuable equipment from mobile towers and arrested four accused individuals. Police recovered tower equipment, batteries, machinery, and cables worth lakhs of rupees, along with a Baleno car used in the thefts, from their possession. With the arrest of this gang, 33 cases of mobile tower theft registered across various police station areas in Ranchi district have been solved.
According to the police, thefts occurred at mobile towers located in Silagai, Phuldih, and Patratu villages under the Chanho police station area. Based on the FIR registered in this regard and instructions from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ranchi, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police (Rural).
Based on technical evidence and the analysis of mobile numbers, the police first detained Taufiq Ansari. During interrogation, he admitted his involvement in the thefts and named his accomplices—Akmal Ansari and Mubarak Ansari—as well as Gauri Kumar, a scrap dealer who purchased the stolen goods. Subsequently, the police arrested all the accused.
The investigation revealed that Taufiq Ansari had previously worked as a site manager for Jio. He possessed detailed knowledge about the expensive equipment installed in mobile towers. He, along with his associates, targeted mobile towers in various areas and sold the stolen goods to a scrap dealer in the Kanke area.
Police recovered three tower RM machines, five tower batteries, a battery charging machine, cables, three Vivo mobile phones, and the Baleno car (JH01EL-4898) used in the thefts from the accused.
Criminal cases were already registered against the arrested individuals Taufiq Ansari and Akmal Ansari. The police have sent all the accused to judicial custody.
