England Makes History: Wins First-Ever T20 Series Against India; Team India Suffers Fifth Consecutive Defeat
Explosive partnership between Phil Salt and captain Harry Brook powers England to a massive victory; Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 80 goes in vain
Bristol: England has scripted history by clinching its first-ever T20 series victory against India. In the fourth match played at Bristol, England handed India a crushing defeat, establishing an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series. Meanwhile, the Indian team has suffered its fifth consecutive loss in T20 matches.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Indian team could only manage 158 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer batted brilliantly under difficult circumstances, scoring an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls, but he failed to find substantial support from the other end.
Chasing a target of 159 runs, the England team displayed aggressive batting. Phil Salt and captain Harry Brook dashed India's hopes by stitching together an unbeaten 144-run partnership for the second wicket. England achieved the target in just 13.5 overs.
Harry Brook played an explosive innings, scoring 79 runs off 35 balls, while Phil Salt—after a slow start—played a magnificent knock of 59 runs off 42 balls.
India's batting once again came under scrutiny. Several batsmen lost their wickets while attempting big shots in haste. Youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi (15) was caught by Sam Curran off a delivery from Jofra Archer.
Pressure is mounting on captain Shreyas Iyer following the string of losses and poor performances, whereas England has staked a strong claim in T20 cricket with their commanding display.
