BJP's nationwide 'Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan' (Campaign for Social Harmony) on Sant Ravidas's 650th birth anniversary; 'Lamp of Harmony' to be lit in every temple starting July 29

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will celebrate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas on a grand scale across the country. To mark this occasion, a seven-month-long 'Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan' (Campaign for Social Harmony) will be conducted from July 29, 2026 (Guru Purnima) to February 20, 2027 (Maghi Purnima). Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Arjun Munda, shared this information during a press conference held at the BJP state office.
Arjun Munda stated that the objective of the campaign is to take Sant Ravidas's message of equality, social harmony, brotherhood, and humanity to every village and household. He emphasized that this would not merely be a religious event but a massive public movement aimed at uniting society and the nation.
He informed that on the evening of July 29, a 'Samrasta Deep Mahotsav' (Festival of Lamps of Harmony) will be organized at temples and religious sites across the country, including Jharkhand. During this event, the 'Lamp of Harmony' will be lit to convey a message of social unity and goodwill.
Munda mentioned that under the campaign, a 'Kalash Vandan Abhiyan' (Sacred Pitcher Reverence Campaign) will commence at Sant Ravidas's birthplace, Seer Govardhanpur (Varanasi). Sacred soil from the site will be transported via ceremonial pitchers (*kalash*) to states and administrative divisions across the nation. Additionally, a 'Samrasta Yatra' (Harmony Procession) will be undertaken from Jalandhar to Varanasi between October 5 and November 5.
He noted that Sant Ravidas showed society the path to inner purity, equality, and humanity through immortal messages such as "Man Changa To Kathauti Mein Ganga" (If the mind is pure, the Ganges flows in the *kathauti*—a small wooden trough). His philosophy of 'Begumpura' envisions a society free from any form of discrimination, injustice, or suffering. The BJP aims to accelerate the creation of a harmonious society and a developed India by taking his ideas to the masses.
Arjun Munda added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP's national leadership have also described this campaign as a significant medium for fostering social harmony and national unity. He expressed confidence that this campaign would further strengthen the resolve of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas" (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, and Effort of all).
BJP State Media In-charge Yogendra Pratap Singh, State Spokespersons Ashok Baraik and Prakash Singh, and Media Co-in-charge Ajay Rai were also present at the press conference.
