Major Deliberations on Safety at CCL; Strategy Formulated for Worker Safety and Modern Facilities

The 37th corporate-level tripartite safety committee meeting of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) was held on Tuesday. The meeting featured comprehensive discussions on further strengthening safety arrangements in mines, ensuring worker health and welfare, and implementing modern safety standards. CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh presided over the meeting, which was attended by representatives from the DGMS (Directorate General of Mines Safety), CCL management, and the Safety Board.
During the meeting, the recommendations of the previous safety committee were reviewed, and detailed deliberations took place regarding workplace safety, occupational health, statutory compliance, and various issues concerning workers' interests. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by R.T. Mandekar, DDG (CZ). On this occasion, DGMS officials and Safety Board members were felicitated with shawls and bouquets.
Safety Board members shared their experiences regarding safety in coal mines and offered several significant suggestions. S.S. Prasad, DDG (SEZ), emphasized the need for better infrastructure for female personnel and the modernization of the Periodic Medical Examination (PME) system. Meanwhile, R.T. Mandekar highlighted the necessity for separate washrooms for female employees, state-of-the-art vocational training centers, and the formation of a special task force to ensure the effective implementation of OSH (Occupational Safety & Health) norms under the new labor laws.
In his address, CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh stated that worker safety is CCL's top priority. Assuring the implementation of suggestions made by the DGMS and the Safety Board, he affirmed that CCL is committed to achieving production targets while maintaining a safe working environment. He called upon all stakeholders to work in coordination.
