₹99,639 crore investment is not new; it is a repackaging of old proposals: BJP
Pratul Shah Deo stated that investments announced at Davos are being presented again as a new achievement; the government should disclose how much of this investment has actually materialized on the ground.
Ranchi. Pratul Shah Deo, the state chief spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), questioned the investment proposals worth ₹99,639 crore recently announced by the state government. He alleged that this is not new investment but merely a repackaging of old proposals announced during visits to Davos and the UK. He stated that the government is attempting to mislead the public by presenting old announcements in a new package.
Pratul Shah Deo noted that following visits to Davos and the UK, the state government had previously announced investment proposals exceeding ₹1.27 lakh crore. He pointed out that most of the companies and investment amounts included in the new ₹99,639 crore package had already been announced earlier.
He claimed that the major investment proposals announced in Delhi included Jindal Steel Limited (₹40,000 crore), Jindal Nuclear Power (₹30,000 crore), Rungta Sons (₹10,000 crore), Rungta Mines (₹3,000 crore), Tata Steel Hisarna (₹7,000 crore), Amalgam Steel and Power (₹4,980 crore), Tata Steel Tinplate expansion (₹2,600 crore), Ambuja Cement (₹1,000 crore), and Jindal Renewables (₹650 crore). He alleged that these same companies and virtually the same investment amounts are now being presented again as fresh investments.
The BJP spokesperson asked the government: if these are indeed new MoUs, what happened to the MoUs signed previously? He demanded that the government disclose the actual investment made in these projects over the past six months, the amount of land allocated, the number of industries where construction has commenced, and the number of local youths who have secured employment.
Pratul Shah Deo also raised questions regarding the ₹30,000 crore Jindal Nuclear Power Project. He noted that nuclear power projects fall under the jurisdiction of the Central Government and require approvals from the Centre, the Department of Atomic Energy, and regulatory bodies. He alleged that by including this proposal in the total investment figures without the necessary clearances, the government is presenting a misleading picture to the public.
He stated that while the BJP welcomes every industrial investment in Jharkhand, the government should present clear details regarding actual investment and job creation to the public, rather than making hollow announcements.
BJP co-media in-charges Ajay Rai and Neeraj Singh were also present at the press conference.
