From Bars to rites: DLSA Ranchi’s Yoga Campaign Unites 99 Centers

Ranchi: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a yoga program was organized at the Civil Court, Ranchi conference hall under the joint aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, and the Art of Living. The event was held under the guidance of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA).

Attendees included JHALSA Member Secretary Kumari Ranjana Asthana, Judicial Commissioner-cum-DLSA Chairman Anil Kumar Mishra, Additional Judicial Commissioner Sanjeev Jha, judicial officers, advocates, mediators, court staff, media personnel, and others. The program was conducted by DLSA Ranchi Secretary Rakesh Roshan.

In her welcome address, Kumari Ranjana Asthana stated that yoga is our invaluable heritage and we must resolve to incorporate it into our daily lives. Meanwhile, during the vote of thanks, Judicial Commissioner Anil Kumar Mishra remarked that in today's times, distancing oneself from yoga is becoming a cause of illness; regular yoga practice can lead to physical and mental well-being.

The yoga session was conducted by Art of Living instructor and mediator Panchanan Singh. He initiated the practice with a prayer and emphasized that yoga is not merely exercise but an art of living. This was followed by sessions on Sukshma Vyayam (gentle warm-up exercises), various Yogasanas, and breathing techniques such as Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari, and Sheetali Pranayama, concluding with meditation. The event ended with the peace mantra: "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramayah, Sarve Bhadrani Pashyantu, Ma Kashchit Duhkhabhagbhavet" (May all be happy, may all be free from illness, may all see goodness, and may no one suffer).

It is noteworthy that 99 centers across the state joined this DLSA Ranchi yoga campaign online via Google Meet. Thousands of people—including those in jails, old age homes, shelter homes, observation homes, and PLV centers—practiced yoga together. This campaign, organized on International Yoga Day, proved to be a successful effort to bring health, discipline, and values to every section of society through yoga.
