“Who Stopped You from Providing Gas Cylinders for ₹450?”: Aditya Sahu Slams JMM’s Agitation Over Inflation

📍 Ranchi | May 08, 2026

BJP State President Aditya Sahu has termed the agitation being staged by the JMM regarding inflation and the rising prices of gas cylinders as nothing more than “political theatrics.” He stated that the ruling JMM is organizing such protests solely to divert public attention away from real issues.

Aditya Sahu asserted that the JMM—which is running the government in alliance with the Congress—possesses no moral authority to speak on the issue of inflation. He alleged that the JMM has become frustrated by the BJP’s consistent efforts to raise issues of public interest and is now resorting to agitation merely to mask its own failures.

He pointed out that the Central Government has previously taken measures to provide relief to the common people by reducing excise duties on petrol and diesel. Furthermore, despite the global economic crisis and disruptions in supply chains, the Central Government has strived to keep the prices of domestic gas cylinders under control.

Sahu challenged the Jharkhand government, asking why—if it truly has the public's best interests at heart—it does not reduce the VAT levied on petrol and diesel. He also noted that the recent hike in electricity tariffs within the state is adversely affecting industries and businesses, while the common people are burdened by exorbitant electricity bills.

Addressing the issue of commercial gas cylinder prices, he stated that this problem is not confined to India alone; rather, the entire world is grappling with an energy crisis and global supply chain disruptions. Commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he remarked that the Prime Minister has endeavored to provide relief to the citizens through diplomatic engagement with various nations and through his foresight.

Aditya Sahu also reminded the JMM and the Congress of their electoral promise to provide gas cylinders for ₹450. He asserted that if the government is truly serious, it should fulfill its promise rather than engaging in mere political rhetoric.
