JMM Protests Against Rising Inflation and Gas Cylinder Prices; Warns of Intensifying Agitation
Ranchi : In protest against the Central Government's anti-people policies and persistently rising inflation, the Ranchi District/Metropolitan Unit of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) staged a massive sit-in demonstration on Thursday in front of the Ranchi District Headquarters. The event was organized under the directives of the JMM's central leadership and featured vigorous sloganeering against the Central Government regarding the escalating prices of domestic and commercial gas cylinders.
Several senior leaders participated in the demonstration, including the party's Central General Secretary and Spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattacharya, and Central Secretary, Nandkishore Mehta. Addressing the gathering, Supriyo Bhattacharya stated that the Central Government has completely failed to curb inflation. He asserted that the continuous rise in the prices of gas cylinders, petrol, and other essential commodities has broken the back of the common people. He warned that if prices are not reduced, the JMM will further intensify its agitation through a phased movement.
The event was presided over by the Chief District Convener, Mustaq Alam. He remarked that, due to the policies of the BJP government, the poor, the middle class, small traders, street vendors, and owners of *dhabas* (roadside eateries) and restaurants are grappling with an economic crisis. He demanded the immediate rollback of the hiked prices for domestic and commercial gas cylinders.
The demonstration saw the participation of numerous central party members, office-bearers from the District and Metropolitan Convener Committees, various block presidents and secretaries, and hundreds of party workers. The proceedings of the event were anchored by Antu Tirkey, a member of the Metropolitan Convener Committee.
