Greetings to State Residents on the Occasion of Bakrid; Also Issues Warning Regarding Voter Lists: Irfan Ansari

Ranchi, August 28, 2026

Jharkhand Government Minister Irfan Ansari extended his greetings to all citizens of the country and the residents of Jharkhand—specifically those in Jamtara and Deoghar—on the auspicious occasion of Eid-al-Adha (Bakrid). He stated that Bakrid is a festival symbolizing renunciation, sacrifice, love, brotherhood, and humanity, inspiring individuals to make sacrifices for the betterment of society and mankind.

Citing the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him), Irfan Ansari remarked that this festival imparts the lesson of walking the path of truth, faith, and justice. Furthermore, he noted that Bakrid is not merely about the ritual sacrifice of an animal; it also conveys a message regarding the eradication of internal evils within humans—such as hatred, greed, arrogance, and injustice.

He appealed for the strengthening of social harmony, mutual love, and the spirit of helping one another.

Meanwhile, Irfan Ansari also expressed concern regarding the voter lists in Jharkhand. He alleged that a conspiracy is underway to remove the names of tribal and Muslim voters from the electoral rolls through the SAR (Summary Revision) process. He asserted that the objective behind this move is to deprive the poor, laborers, tribals, and minority communities of their constitutional rights.

He appealed to those residents of the state who have migrated to other states in search of employment and livelihood to return home soon and ensure that their names—as well as those of their families—are securely registered in the voter lists. He claimed that attempts are being made to remove the names of 4 to 5 members out of every 10 in many families—a move he characterized as a dangerous conspiracy against democracy and the Constitution.

Irfan Ansari urged the public to participate seriously in the SIR process and to ensure the verification of every individual's name within their respective villages and neighborhoods. In conclusion, he once again extended his best wishes to everyone on Eid-al-Adha (Bakrid) and prayed for peace, prosperity, and blessings throughout the state.
