DLSA Secretary Conducts Surprise Inspection; Directs Expediting of Treatment and Rehabilitation Processes
Ranchi: Acting under the directives of Justice-cum-Executive Chairman, JHALSA, Sujit Narayan Prasad—and under the guidance of Member Secretary, JHALSA, Kumari Ranjana Asthana, and Judicial Commissioner, Ranchi, Anil Kumar Mishra-I—Rakesh Roshan, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, conducted a surprise inspection of the Probation Home on Saturday.
During the inspection, individual interactions were held with all 26 women and girls currently residing in the Probation Home. The inquiry revealed that 20 women over the age of 18 are staying there, some of whom are mentally unwell. The DLSA Secretary has requested a list of such women from the Probation Officer so that they may be referred to appropriate hospitals for proper medical treatment.
The inspection also brought to light that some of the women have been abandoned by their families. In such cases, instructions have been issued to compile a list containing the full addresses of these women, enabling the initiation of measures to safely facilitate their return home.
Furthermore, it was observed that the education of several girls had been disrupted for the past year. The DLSA Secretary has requested a list of these girls as well, to ensure that necessary steps are taken to facilitate their continued education.
During the inspection, the DLSA team also assessed the quality of food, hygiene standards, and security arrangements. All CCTV cameras installed within the Probation Home were found to be in proper working condition.
