DLSA Intensifies Campaign Against Witchcraft Practices and Drug Abuse
Legal Awareness Programs Conducted at RIMS, Bargain Circle, and Local Settlements

On Thursday, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, organized special programs at RIMS Hospital, Bargain Circle, and Bargain Settlement—all located within the Bariatu area—as part of a 90-day legal awareness campaign. During these programs, people were sensitized to critical social issues such as witchcraft practices, child marriage, child labor, and the eradication of drug abuse.
The programs were organized under the directives of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Executive Chairman of JHALSA (Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority). This campaign is being conducted under the guidance of Kumari Ranjana Asthana, Member Secretary of JHALSA, and Anil Kumar Mishra-I, Judicial Commissioner of Ranchi, and in the presence of Rakesh Roshan, Secretary of DLSA.
The awareness programs were attended by Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) including Snehlata Dubey, Shahishta Praveen, Rishabh Jaiswal, and Suraj Verma, among other members. PLV Rishabh Jaiswal emphasized that drug abuse destroys both families and society, urging the youth to stay away from it. Meanwhile, Snehlata Dubey provided information regarding the free legal aid services offered by the District Legal Services Authority, as well as various government welfare schemes.
Shahishta Praveen raised awareness among the public regarding the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), as well as old-age and widow pension schemes. The team also disseminated information regarding schemes such as 'Yojana Saathi,' 'DON,' 'ASHA,' and 'Jagriti.'
Additionally, during these events, the public was informed about the upcoming National Lok Adalat (People's Court), scheduled to be held on May 9, 2026, and was urged to participate actively to facilitate the speedy disposal of as many cases as possible.
