Ranchi, March 24, 2026 — On the auspicious occasion of Shri Ram Janmotsav (Ram Navami), the Ranchi District Administration has decided to implement special traffic arrangements within the city from March 26 to March 28. With the objective of ensuring safety and facilitating smooth movement during the festivities—specifically regarding the tableaux, the main ceremonial procession, and the *Chaiti Durga Visarjan* (immersion ceremony)—the movement of vehicles will be restricted on several key routes.
According to the administration, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be completely prohibited from 4:00 PM on March 26 until 6:00 AM on March 27. All heavy goods-carrying vehicles have been directed to reach their destinations via the Ring Road. Meanwhile, the movement of light goods-carrying vehicles will be restricted from 5:00 PM to 12:00 midnight. During this period, the movement of general vehicles—including autos, *totos*, and municipal corporation buses—will also be completely halted in key areas such as Kishori Yadav Chowk, Upper Bazar, Mahavir Mandir Chowk, Shaheed Chowk, Subhash Chowk, and Sujata Chowk.
In view of the main ceremonial procession on March 27, the entry of large vehicles into the city will be restricted from 8:00 AM on March 27 until 4:00 AM on March 28. Additionally, from 12:30 PM to 12:30 AM, the movement of all light goods-carrying vehicles, autos, and *totos* will be strictly prohibited. From 1:00 PM until the conclusion of the procession, restrictions on the movement of general vehicles have been imposed on several major routes within the city. These routes include the stretch from Kishori Yadav Chowk to Upper Bazar, Shaheed Chowk, Kutchery Chowk, Circular Road, Jail Chowk, Commissioner Chowk, Radium Chowk, Albert Ekka Chowk, Plaza Chowk, Purulia Road, Main Road, Church Road, Chutia Bazar, Sujata Chowk, Rajendra Chowk, the Overbridge, and Ratu Road. The entry of vehicles on these routes will be completely restricted, and traffic diversions will be implemented as deemed necessary. Furthermore, vehicles arriving from Circular Road will be permitted to proceed only as far as Jail Chowk; similarly, routes leading toward the Main Road from several internal lanes—such as S.N. Ganguly Road, Vishnu Gali, Budhiya Gali, and Radheshyam Gali—will also remain closed.
On March 28, on the occasion of Chaiti Durga Visarjan, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be prohibited from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Midnight. Traffic diversions will be implemented on the concerned routes as deemed necessary during the immersion procession.
The District Administration appeals to the general public to adhere to the issued guidelines, refrain from using restricted routes unnecessarily, and opt for alternative paths instead. The administration further states that all arrangements have been put in place with the objective of ensuring the convenience of devotees, as well as maintaining peace and security within the city.
