Strictly Follow Traffic Rules, No Negligence with Safety Will Be Tolerated – DC Dr. Tarachand
Lohardaga: The District Administration has launched the National Road Safety Month-2026 to curb road accidents. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Tarachand today, January 03, 2026, flagged off two Awareness Chariots from the Collectorate premises to promote public awareness. The campaign will run until January 31, 2026, during which the general public will be educated about traffic and road safety rules.
Regular Checks to Continue
On this occasion, DC Dr. Tarachand appealed to the public, stating that continuous campaigns are being run under road safety in Lohardaga district. He strictly advised citizens to use helmets and seat belts, avoid triple riding, and refrain from drunk driving. He also clarified that driving without a license and not carrying essential documents will be considered a violation of the rules.
The DC informed that a heavy fine of ₹37 lakh was collected in Lohardaga district between April and December 2025 for traffic rule violations. He warned that the licenses of repeat offenders have also been revoked, and action to seize modified motorcycles is ongoing. He emphasized that all these checks will continue regularly in the future.
Organisation of Awareness Programs
During the launch of the Road Safety Month, a signature campaign was held at the Collectorate premises, and people took pictures at a selfie point.
District Transport Officer Jaya Sankhi Murmu, DSP Headquarters Sameer Tirkey, District Disaster Management Officer Pramod Das, District Education Officer Das Sunanda Chandramauleshwar, and other officials were present at the event.
