Tadasha Mishra becomes Jharkhand’s first woman DGP, takes charge — focus on teamwork and public trust

Jharkhand/Ranchi (M Bharat 24 News Live): For the first time in Jharkhand’s history, a woman has taken charge of the state’s top police position. IPS officer Tadasha Mishra (1994 batch) formally assumed office on Friday as the first woman Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand.

After assuming charge at the Police Headquarters, Mishra told reporters that her first priority will be the successful organization of Jharkhand Foundation Day celebrations. She emphasized strengthening basic policing, continuing strict action against organized crime and Naxalites, and building public trust in the police force.

“The police will work as a team. Everything will not depend on one individual. A single person cannot do everything, but a team can achieve anything,” she said.

Before this appointment, Tadasha Mishra served as Special Secretary in the Department of Home, Jail, and Disaster Management. Following the voluntary retirement (VRS) of former DGP Anurag Gupta, the post had fallen vacant. On Thursday night, the state’s Home Department issued a notification appointing Mishra as the acting DGP.

The state government has also accepted Anurag Gupta’s resignation and declared him retired from November 6, 2025, granting him all post-retirement benefits and entitlements.

With this appointment, a new chapter has begun in Jharkhand Police history, as Tadasha Mishra becomes the first-ever woman IPS officer to lead the state police.
