Red Fort Blast: NIA Arrests Associate of Suicide Bomber Umar Nabi

NIA gets big breakthrough in Red Fort car explosion case, arrests Kashmir resident Amir Rashid Ali

New Delhi, 16 November:  The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved a major breakthrough in the 10 November car bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort by arresting Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Kashmir. Investigations revealed that Amir, along with the alleged suicide bomber Umar un Nabi, had planned the attack. The explosion claimed the lives of more than 10 people and injured over 32.

According to the NIA, the car used in the blast was registered in the name of Amir Rashid Ali. Forensic examination confirmed that the explosive-laden vehicle was being driven by Umar un Nabi at the time of the blast. Umar, a resident of Pulwama district, worked as an Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University, Faridabad. The NIA has also seized another vehicle owned by Umar, which is being carefully examined for further evidence.

So far, statements of 73 witnesses, including those injured in the blast, have been recorded. The NIA is conducting a multi-state investigation in coordination with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and other concerned agencies. The agency is following several critical leads to uncover the wider conspiracy and identify other individuals involved.

The investigation has also revealed that Amir Rashid Ali had accompanied Umar un Nabi to Delhi. Together, they facilitated the purchase of the car, preparation of explosives, and other logistical tasks. The NIA believes that Amir’s arrest will significantly strengthen the progress of the investigation and help in identifying and arresting other associates involved in the plot.
