“Know Your Tourist Place” Theme Event Organized in Khunti

Under the series of events being held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Jharkhand’s Statehood, the Khunti district administration organized a special program on Thursday based on the theme “Know Your Tourist Place.” The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner–cum–District Magistrate R. Ronita at the Birsa Munda Astroturf Hockey Stadium, Khunti.

Players Flagged Off for Tourist Site Visit

The Deputy Commissioner flagged off trainee players of the Residential Boys Hockey Centre and the Centre of Excellence Girls Hockey Centre for a guided tour of major tourist destinations including:

Dombari Buru
Panchghagh
Latratu Dam

DC R. Ronita and SP Manish Toppo, along with district officials, staff members, and players, also participated in the trek to the historic Dombari Buru.

Tribute to Birsa Munda

The event began with all participants offering floral tributes to the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, honoring his supreme sacrifice. This was followed by a trekking session across the hills of Dombari Buru, where enthusiastic participation was observed among all attendees.

Khunti — A Land of Natural & Historical Heritage

Speaking on the occasion, DC R. Ronita said that Khunti district is rich in natural beauty and historical heritage. Such programs will help promote local tourism and connect people more closely with their cultural and historical legacy.

Officials also highlighted the historical significance of Dombari Buru, the site where Birsa Munda and his followers fought bravely against British rule during the Ulgulan Movement (1899–1900). Hundreds of tribal warriors attained martyrdom here, making it a symbol of tribal identity and sacrifice.
