Governor and Chief Minister Pay Tribute on 150th Birth Anniversary of Birsa Munda
On the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon and revered leader Dharti Aba Birsa Munda, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and MLA Kalpana Soren paid floral tribute at his samadhi site in Kokar, Ranchi on Saturday. They described Birsa Munda as a symbol of hope, resilience and identity for the tribal community and urged people to follow his ideals.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that Birsa Munda awakened a new sense of dignity, self-respect and rights among the tribal community through his struggle and sacrifices. He added that the state government is working to fulfil Birsa Munda’s vision by focusing on women’s dignity, youth empowerment, children’s education and the preservation of Jharkhand’s culture and languages.
He appealed to the people of Jharkhand to follow the ideals of Birsa Munda, concluding with the message: “Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda Amar Rahein. Jai Jharkhand.”
Tributes at Birsa Chowk
Later in the day, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and MLA Kalpana Soren also paid floral tribute at the statue of Birsa Munda located at Birsa Chowk in Ranchi. They offered flowers and observed moments of respect in honour of the legendary tribal leader.
