Residents went to meet the Municipal Commissioner regarding this issue. Instead of listening to or resolving the issue, he threatened the residents, saying, "Do whatever you want; we have nothing to do with your health. Since the company's money is involved, we will neither listen nor understand; the work will be done no matter what." This has caused the residents to be extremely angry. It is not appropriate to adopt an authoritarian attitude by failing to resolve the issue or inform the public.
Residents say that this area faces a children's hospital, a densely populated area, a college campus, and numerous institutions. The ITI ground is the only place where residents come to walk, jog, and children play. If the plant remains in this area, the stench and pollution will harm everyone's health. Residents say that the corporation has been repeatedly requested to build a health center and a small children's park in this area, but the corporation's response has been that there is no land available, and that they have now acquired land to harm health. The corporation has no measures in place to prevent pollution caused by the recycling of waste at this plant. Residents have resolved not to allow it to be built. It could be moved to a less populated area to prevent physical or mental harm. Places should be identified where there are no hospitals or educational institutions; what's the point of ruining children's futures?
Social activist Kumud Jha explained that the corporation is constantly increasing the number of workers to expedite work. We requested two days from the corporation, stating that we would pursue the legal process and attempt to obtain a stay order, but the corporation refused. They said they would file a PIL soon, considering the public interest.
