Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had filed an application under Section 205 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) seeking exemption from personal appearance during the trial in the case filed against him. The court was scheduled to pronounce its verdict on this application today (October 4), but the hearing was postponed due to Judge Supriya Rani Tigga being on leave. The next hearing in the case has now been scheduled for October 9, 2025.
Advocate Subhash Chandra Mishra, representing Rahul Gandhi, stated that arguments on this application were completed by both parties on September 22nd, and the court reserved its order.
Congress supporters are eagerly awaiting the court's decision. If the court grants Rahul Gandhi an exemption from personal appearance, he will be able to participate in his parliamentary and political programs without any hindrance. However, if the application is rejected, he will be required to appear in person before the court for all upcoming hearings.
Congress leaders also say that Rahul Gandhi is constantly busy at the national level, so this decision could have a direct impact on his programs and political activities.
