Narendra Modi expresses gratitude to the nation as he enters his 25th year as head of government

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed his deep gratitude to the people of the country as he enters his 25th year as head of government. Recalling his public life, he said that since he was sworn in as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, his sole objective has been to improve the lives of the people and contribute to the nation's progress. In an official release and on the Prime Minister's social media platforms, Narendra Modi said that he was entrusted with the responsibility of becoming Chief Minister at a time when Gujarat was going through difficult times. That same year, the state faced a devastating earthquake, followed by a super cyclone, persistent drought, and political instability, which had dampened people's hopes. He said that these challenges further strengthened his resolve to serve the people and rebuild Gujarat with new energy and hope.

Prime Minister Modi, recalling his mother's words on this occasion, said, "When I took oath as Chief Minister, my mother said, 'I don't understand much about your work, but remember two things: always work for the poor and never take bribes.'" The Prime Minister said that he had also promised the people that every decision he made would always be driven by honest intentions and service to the last person in society. Modi said that when he took charge of Gujarat, the general public, especially farmers, complained of severe power and water shortages. Agriculture was in crisis, industry was at a standstill, and public trust had been shattered. However, following the principles of public cooperation and good governance, he transformed Gujarat into a model state. Once a drought-prone state, it now became a leader in agriculture, industry, and manufacturing. Social and physical infrastructure in Gujarat was strengthened, and curfew-like situations became a thing of the past. He said, "Gujarat's recovery was not just the success of one state, but an example of the power of people working together to make the impossible possible."

Recalling the next phase of his political career, Prime Minister Modi said that when he was appointed as the Prime Ministerial candidate in 2013, the country was facing a crisis of trust and good governance. He said, "The then UPA government had become a symbol of corruption, nepotism, and policy paralysis. India was seen as a weak link on the global stage." However, in the 2014 general elections, the people gave a historic mandate to the Bharatiya Janata Party and its alliance, ushering in a new era of confidence and purpose. Prime Minister Modi said that India has witnessed unprecedented transformation in the last 11 years. The country has lifted more than 250 million people out of poverty, and today India has become a shining example among major global economies. He said that the reforms undertaken to empower women, youth, and our hardworking farmers have given a new direction to India's self-reliance campaign. Today, every citizen of the country is proudly saying, "Say with pride, this is Swadeshi." He said that India has successfully implemented the world's largest schemes not only in the economic sector, but also in the areas of social security and health. He cited the innovation of farmers, the enthusiasm of youth, and the leadership of women as the foundation of India's progress.

Prime Minister Modi said that this journey has been possible due to the continued affection and trust of the people. He said, "Serving the nation is my highest honor and duty, which constantly energizes me. With the values of the Constitution as my guide, I will continue to work even harder to realize the collective dream of a 'developed India.'" In a series of posts on his Instagram, the Prime Minister said, "On October 7, 2001, I was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time. Today, with the blessings of my colleagues, I enter my 25th year as the head of government. My gratitude to the people of India. Throughout these years, my goal has been one of improving the lives of the people and contributing to the nation's progress." He further wrote, "When I started working in Gujarat, the state was repeatedly shaken by natural disasters. But those same difficulties made us stronger to serve the people. Together, the people took Gujarat to new heights."

The Prime Minister said that this 25-year journey is not just the story of his life, but also the story of the country's collective achievements. He said, "This trust and affection of the people is my greatest inspiration. I will continue to work with this spirit so that our dream—a 'developed India'—can soon be realized."
