Jharkhand/Ranchi: Outraged by the assault, abuse, and indecent behavior against doctors and paramedics at Sadar Hospital on September 26th and 28th, the Jharkhand State Health Services Association (JSA) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) have issued a warning to the government.
Both organizations have stated that if positive action is not taken, a major protest will be launched soon and emergency services across the state will be disrupted.
In response, the Jharkhand State Health Services Association (JSA) held an emergency meeting at Sadar Hospital on Monday. Concern was expressed over the recent increase in incidents of abuse against doctors and paramedics. It was decided to inform the Chief Minister, Health Minister, Health Secretary, Registrar of the High Court, the district administration, and the media about the incident.
Meanwhile, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, State Secretary of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), issued a press release stating that incidents of violence have increased in government and private hospitals in the past few days, which is extremely sad. He supported the JHASA movement and urged the government to take strict action as soon as possible, otherwise doctors and medical staff will launch a fierce protest.
Meanwhile, at the JHASA meeting held at Sadar Hospital, it was stated that the strike has been postponed for now due to special festivals like Durga Puja. However, if timely action is not taken on the FIR filed, JHASA will not hesitate to launch a larger protest, which could even disrupt emergency services.
All the doctors present at the meeting unanimously expressed concern about the safety of medical staff. JHASA informed the Civil Surgeon and Deputy Superintendent of Hospitals, Ranchi, of their concerns and demands.
The officials expressed concern over the incident and assured all possible support.
JHASA's key demands include robust security arrangements on the hospital campus, concrete measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents, the installation of high-quality CCTV cameras throughout the campus, and the deployment of trained security personnel.
Many doctors, medical personnel and JASA officials were present in the meeting.
