Ranchi: Jharkhand Provincial Marwari Conference has expressed strong displeasure over the Go Back slogans and incidents of vandalism being raised against Marwari, Gujarati and Jain community in Telangana. Provincial President of the conference Suresh Chandra Agarwal has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday demanding strict action against the culprits.
The letter states that the Marwari community has been making a major contribution to economic development through industry and trade in the country and around the world. Describing the society as hardworking, tolerant and religious, Agarwal said that Marwaris have also been leading in Dharamshalas, hospitals and public service works. Giants like Jamnalal Bajaj and Ghanshyam Das Birla have also contributed in the freedom struggle.
The conference said that provocative slogans against such a society and attacks on establishments are intolerable. There is deep resentment across the country and there is a suspicion that the state government has tacit support behind it.
The conference has urged the Home Minister to put pressure on the Chief Minister of Telangana to take strict action against the miscreants, otherwise the Marwari, Gujarati and Jain community across the country will be forced to protest.
