Major Crackdown on ISI-Backed Network Ahead of Independence Day
New Delhi: Security agencies have launched a nationwide crackdown against the ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti network ahead of Independence Day.
According to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, coordinated operations were conducted across 14 states, resulting in the arrest of more than 200 people.
During the operation, agencies reportedly recovered IEDs, grenades, weapons, live ammunition and other incriminating materials. Investigators are also examining allegations that members of the network conducted reconnaissance of police facilities, defence establishments and religious sites.
According to government information, more than 80 FIRs have been registered in connection with the network. Security agencies are now questioning those arrested to identify other members and trace possible cross-border links.
Amit Shah reiterated that the government remains committed to its “zero-tolerance policy” against terrorism and anti-national activities.
