BJP's attempt to politicize student protests fails, students and police maintain restraint: JMM
Vinod Pandey says, "Government is serious about student issues, efforts continue to find a solution through dialogue."
Ranchi, August 10: Amidst the ongoing student protests, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has accused the BJP of politicizing the movement. JMM General Secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey said that the restraint, sensitivity, and responsibility displayed by the students and the police administration have thwarted the BJP's attempt to turn the protest into a political confrontation.
Vinod Pandey said that while respecting the right of student organizations to peaceful protest, the government is continuously moving towards a solution through dialogue and negotiations. He alleged that the BJP was attempting to push the movement toward a confrontation with the government and unrest in the state by pushing back the real issues of the students.
Allegations of political expediency against the BJP
The JMM General Secretary said that the BJP is politically frustrated after being repeatedly rejected by the public in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He alleged that the BJP is trying to exploit the future and concerns of the youth for political instability.
Pandey stated that the youth of Jharkhand are aware of their rights and future. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been consistently appealing to the youth to resolve issues through dialogue. He claimed that the people of Jharkhand understand the BJP's alleged political conspiracy.
Government Serious on Student Issues
Vinod Pandey stated that the government has taken seriously the talks held with student representatives before a high-level committee. Positive discussions have taken place on issues related to student demands and their future, and there are possibilities for progress towards resolving most of the issues.
He stated that the government believes that a permanent solution to student problems is possible not through street confrontations, but through dialogue, discussion, and the constitutional process. The government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren is sensitive to the students' demands.
Allegations of Attempt to Turn the Movement Violent
The JMM alleged that the BJP tried to turn the peaceful student movement into a violent confrontation. However, the situation was brought under control due to the restraint of the students and the sensitive attitude of the police administration.
Pandey said that while it is the government's responsibility to respect the right to democratic protest, no one can be allowed to disrupt law and order. He said that action will be taken as per the law against those who resort to violence, vandalism, or anarchy under the guise of a peaceful protest.
Allegations of Hijacking the Student Movement
The JMM General Secretary said that the government understands the students' genuine concerns—their future, employment, and opportunities—and wants to address them through dialogue. He accused the BJP of attempting to hijack the peaceful student movement for political purposes.
He said that high-level talks with the students clearly show that they are concerned about their future. The government is ready to consider their legitimate demands positively.
Appeal to Students for Peaceful Protest
The JMM appealed to the students not to succumb to any political provocation and to keep their protest peaceful. The party stated that the government stands with the students and is committed to protecting their legitimate interests.
Vinod Pandey stated that Chief Minister Hemant Soren's clear message is that the government is ready for dialogue and is serious about resolving students' issues. He stated that despite the BJP's alleged political efforts to mislead the youth of Jharkhand and disrupt the state, attempts to disrupt the state will not succeed.
JMM stated that everyone has the right to democratic protest, but no one has the right to create anarchy. The government will listen to the students and take every possible step toward a solution.
