Tensions Escalate Again Between India and Pakistan Over Indus Waters Treaty; Pakistan Says It Is "Ready for War If Necessary"

New Delhi/Islamabad: War of words between India and Pakistan regarding the Indus Waters Treaty has intensified once again. Following Pakistan's Foreign Minister, the Pakistani Army and PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have now adopted a tough stance.

The Pakistani Army has stated that it will take "all necessary steps" to protect the water rights allocated to Pakistan under the Indus Waters Treaty. Meanwhile, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari asserted that Pakistan would not compromise on this agreement and is prepared for war if the need arises.

On the other hand, India has made it clear that the Indus Waters Treaty will remain suspended until Pakistan stops supporting cross-border terrorism. The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that India stands firm on its position.

It is worth noting that India had decided to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan following the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Since then, tensions between the two nations over this issue have persisted.
