Ranchi Police Public Hearing: 240 Complaints Received, 134 Cases Resolved on the Spot
Ranchi: Following instructions from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office, Ranchi, a public hearing program was organized on Tuesday (July 1, 2026) at various police stations and outposts (OPs) across the district. The objective of the program was to ensure the speedy resolution of grievances raised by ordinary citizens.
Under the close supervision of the Superintendent of Police (City) and Superintendent of Police (Rural), concerned Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) were directed to take prompt action on the applications received. At several police stations, the respective area DSPs were personally present; working alongside the SHOs, they listened to the complainants' issues and resolved the grievances.
Approximately 240 applications were received across the district's police stations and outposts during the public hearing. Of these, 134 cases were resolved immediately on the same day, while FIRs were registered and investigations initiated in several other instances. The remaining complaints are undergoing a thorough investigation to ensure a fair and timely resolution for all cases.
Ranchi Police stated that the public hearing program aims to strengthen trust between the police and the general public and to resolve people's issues in a swift and transparent manner. Citizens were also urged to approach their nearest police station without hesitation or to avail themselves of the public hearing program for any problem or complaint.
