Official Seal Placed on Jharkhand State Bar Council Election Results; 22 Advocates Declared Elected
Ranchi, June 24: The long-awaited election results for the Jharkhand State Bar Council finally received official confirmation on Wednesday. The Law Department of the Jharkhand Government published an extraordinary issue (No. 336) of the Jharkhand Gazette on June 24, 2026, releasing the list of the 22 elected members of the Bar Council.
Chief Returning Officer and former Judge Ambuj Nath declared 22 advocates elected as members of the Jharkhand State Bar Council, in compliance with the directives of the Supreme Court. A notification regarding this was issued under the signature of Neeraj Kumar Srivastava, Principal Secretary-cum-Legal Remembrancer of the Law Department.
It is noteworthy that voting for the Jharkhand State Bar Council concluded on March 12, 2026. After a long wait, the publication of the results has paved the way for the formation of the new council.
According to the notification, the entire election process and the declaration of results have been completed in accordance with the orders and guidelines passed by the Supreme Court in the cases of *M. Vardhan vs. Union of India & Ors.* (W.P. Civil No. 1319/2023) on November 18, 2025, and *Yogamaya M.G. vs. Union of India & Ors.* (W.P. Civil No. 581/2024) on December 8, 2025.
The new Bar Council will play a significant role in the welfare of the state's advocates, the protection of their professional interests, and various issues related to the legal system. Following the issuance of the gazette notification, the process of congratulating the newly elected members has also begun.
