Public in Distress Under BJP Rule; Corporates Receive Patronage: Vinod Pandey

Ranchi: Launching a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, Vinod Pandey, General Secretary of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), stated that over the past 11 years, instead of providing relief to the common people, they have been consistently pushed toward perpetual crisis, inflation, and economic insecurity. He alleged that today, the country's middle class, farmers, laborers, youth, and small traders are grappling with economic pressure and instability, while the central government remains solely focused on self-promotion and serving the interests of big industrialists.

Issuing a press statement, Vinod Pandey noted that during the demonetization period, people were forced to stand in bank queues for hours, while during the COVID-19 era, the public faced immense distress in their search for hospital beds, oxygen, and medicines. He added that the continuously rising prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel, and food items have completely disrupted the budgets of ordinary families.

He further alleged that despite a decline in crude oil prices in the international market, no relief was passed on to the public, even as oil companies continued to rake in record profits. This, he argued, makes it evident that the central government's priority lies not with the common people, but with corporate interests.

The JMM General Secretary remarked that while the BJP government, on one hand, preaches the virtues of sacrifice, savings, and national interest to the public, on the other, it grants special economic concessions and exemptions to big industrialists. He termed this trend dangerous for both democratic and social equilibrium.

Vinod Pandey asserted that the country requires a government that creates jobs, keeps inflation in check, and maintains social harmony. He alleged that the current central government has instead fostered unemployment, economic inequality, social tension, and divisive politics.

He concluded by stating that in a democracy, the government is accountable to the people—not to a select group of capitalists. The public is now raising questions, and in the times to come, they will provide their answer through democratic means.
