641 Children Secure Opportunity for Free Admission in Private Schools Through RTE Lottery
Ranchi: The Ranchi District Administration organized an online lottery process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act to facilitate free admission into private schools for children belonging to economically weaker and underprivileged sections of society. Under the directives of District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, the entire process was conducted with utmost transparency and fairness.
Presided over by the Sub-Divisional Officer of Ranchi, the online lottery was attended by the principals of five private schools, five parents, and media representatives, thereby ensuring the credibility and transparency of the selection process.
For the academic year 2026-27, a total of 1,499 applications were received under the RTE Act. Following scrutiny and verification, 1,036 applications were deemed eligible for the lottery process. The selection procedure was conducted for 1,158 available seats across 117 recognized private schools within the district.
Through the online lottery, a total of 641 children were selected across 89 schools. The selected children will receive admission into their respective private schools free of cost, and their education up to Class 8 will be provided completely free of charge.
The District Administration stated that the entire process was conducted in a technically secure, transparent, and impartial manner. Present on this occasion were the District Education Officer, the District Education Superintendent, the Assistant District Information and Science Officer, along with other officials and staff members of the Education Department.
