HOFED is the apex horticultural cooperative body of Uttar Pradesh, working continuously to provide better marketing opportunities and fair prices to farmers for their horticultural produce. The federation regularly organises buyer–seller meets for key commodities such as mango and potato in different parts of the country to establish direct trade linkages between producers and buyers.
The organisation has a strong grassroots network comprising 1,040 Primary Horticultural Cooperative Societies at the village level and 14 District Horticultural Cooperative Marketing Federations across Uttar Pradesh. District Horticulture Officers in all districts also serve as District Managers of HOFED, ensuring effective coordination between farmers and markets.
Societies functioning under HOFED are engaged in the production of a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. The federation has also played a notable role in promoting the export of horticultural produce from Uttar Pradesh through sustained marketing and export-oriented initiatives.
The Ranchi programme brings together progressive potato growers from Uttar Pradesh, potato traders from Ranchi and nearby regions, and officials from both states. The interaction is focused on discussions related to potato marketing, inter-state trade, and export opportunities, with the objective of strengthening supply chains and expanding market reach for UP potatoes.
