Ranchi:Police have arrested an active member of the banned extremist outfit TSPC in connection with McCluskieganj Police Station Case No. 31/25 dated December 18, 2025. The arrested accused has been identified as Salman Khan, son of Zahir Khan, resident of G-Type, Khalaari Police Station area, Ranchi district.
According to the police, on December 16, 2025, extremists carried out a firing incident in the Khalaari area, bordering Chatra district, with the intention of spreading terror for levy extortion. Considering the seriousness of the incident, a special raiding team was constituted under the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, and the supervision of the Superintendent of Police (Rural), led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Khalaari.
On December 18, acting on a tip-off, the police team laid an ambush in the forest area of Dhamdhamia. During the operation, one extremist was arrested along with a loaded country-made pistol and a live cartridge. Two other extremists managed to escape by taking advantage of dense forest cover and darkness.
During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that he is an active member of the TSPC squad led by sub-zonal commander Adil Ansari alias Deva Ji and was involved in extortion from contractors, coal traders and brick kiln owners on his instructions. Police have identified the two absconding extremists and raids are underway to arrest them.
Police further stated that the responsibility for the firing incident in the Khalaari area has been claimed by the TSPC sub-zonal commander. The case is being thoroughly investigated and efforts are on to identify and arrest other extremists involved in the incident.
