Jharkhand Foundation Day & 150th Birth Anniversary of Birsa Munda Celebrated, Govt Unveils Projects Worth ₹8,799 Crore

Jharkhand witnessed a historic celebration on Friday as the state marked the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda along with the 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee) of its formation.
A grand state-level function was organised at Morabadi Ground where Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar graced the occasion as chief guest, while Chief Minister Hemant Soren presided over the event.
On this occasion, the government inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 1,087 development projects worth ₹8,799 crore.
CM: “A Day of Pride for Every Jharkhandi”
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the day holds immense significance for the people of Jharkhand.
He paid homage to all freedom fighters and martyrs who fought for the rights over jal–jungle–zameen and laid the foundation for a separate state.
“This is a proud moment for all of us. We salute our heroes whose sacrifices gave us a distinct identity as Jharkhandis.”
CM Gets Emotional Remembering Shibu Soren
During his address, the Chief Minister became emotional recalling Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, calling him the architect and guiding force behind the creation of Jharkhand.
“His absence is deeply felt today. Had he been among us, this stage would have been even more dignified. He was the identity and voice of every Jharkhandi.”
“Adivasis Are the First Inhabitants of This Land”
The CM strongly reiterated the importance of tribal identity and heritage.
“Adivasis are the original, first inhabitants of this country. Our culture, traditions and heritage must be preserved, promoted and showcased at the global level.”
“A Developed Nation Needs Developed States and Strong Villages”
Outlining the government’s vision, the Chief Minister said:
“A nation can be developed only when its states develop, and states can progress only when villages are strengthened.”
He emphasised the government’s commitment to improving rural roads, water supply, healthcare, education and agricultural infrastructure.
₹8,799 Crore | 1,087 Projects Announced
878 projects inaugurated — ₹4,324 crore
209 projects foundation-laid — ₹4,475 crore
These projects span across roads, health, education, rural development, water resources, energy, tourism and sports.

The Chief Minister said that in the past 25 years, the state has witnessed significant changes and is now ready to compete with leading states of the country.
