Former CCL Finance Manager Gets 3-Year Jail Term in Bribery Case
Court Finds Officer Guilty in 2020 Trap Case
Ranchi: The Special CBI Court, Ranchi, led by Judge Yogesh Kumar, on Wednesday (26 Nov) convicted Ajay Kumar Chandra, former Finance Manager, CCL NK Area (Dakra), in a five-year-old bribery case. He has been sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹10,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in three months’ simple imprisonment.
CBI caught Chandra red-handed on 21 March 2020 while accepting ₹2,000 from a contractor for clearing a pending bill. He was arrested and later released on bail.
CBI Senior Public Prosecutor Priyanshu Singh argued the case, and essential witnesses were presented during the trial. CBI filed the chargesheet in May 2020, and charges were framed on 10 September 2020. The case saw almost a year of arguments before the final conviction.
