Deputy Administrator Inspects Proposed MRF Project Site at ITI Bus Stand

Local consultation leads to partial continuation of civil works; MRF construction kept on hold

Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) continues to advance its efforts to modernize and strengthen solid waste management through scientific methods. As part of this initiative, Material Recovery Facility (MRF) centres are being developed across various locations in the city.

Inspection of ITI Bus Stand MRF Site

The MRF project proposed on RMC land near the ITI Bus Stand had earlier been halted due to objections raised by local residents.
On 15 November 2025, Additional Administrator Sanjay Kumar visited the site with the corporation team and interacted with the local residents.

During the discussion, he informed residents that:

  • The Haroo MRF Centre has already been completed.
  • Trial operations for waste processing are in progress.
  • The system ensures no foul smell or inconvenience to nearby households.
  • Citizens may visit the Haroo facility to observe operations themselves.

Decision After Public Consultation

After discussions with local residents, the following decisions were taken:

  • Boundary wall and barricading work will continue.
  • Construction of the MRF unit will remain suspended until further orders.

Statement from the Additional Administrator

“Given the continuously increasing waste volume in the city, establishing MRF centres is essential for ensuring scientific waste disposal.”

He appealed to all citizens to adopt and practice source segregation as part of their daily routine.
