Jharkhand/East Singhbhum: Political tensions have once again escalated in the Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency. On Thursday night, during the Durga idol immersion ceremony at the Swarnarekha Ghat in Bhuiyadih, a scuffle broke out between Moolchand Sahu, brother of former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das, and Rajesh Singh alias Bam Singh, brother of independent candidate Shiv Shankar Singh. It is alleged that Moolchand Sahu punched Bam Singh, used casteist and derogatory language, and threatened to kill him.
Following the incident, Rajesh Singh Bam filed a written complaint against Moolchand Sahu at the Sitaramdera police station. Bam Singh claims that he had arrived at the ghat for the Durga idol immersion ceremony and saw Moolchand Sahu. He merely tried to greet Sahu out of courtesy, but Sahu attacked him.
According to Bam Singh, during the attack, Moolchand Sahu said, "You Biharis have been licking our feet for 25 years and will continue to do so. How dare your brother contest the election against Raghuvar Das and his daughter-in-law, Purnima Sahu." He also threatened to have him killed if he continued to oppose them.
Police have confirmed receiving a complaint in this matter. The Sitaramdera police station in-charge stated that the allegations are being investigated and legal action will be taken after verification.
