Jharkhand/Gumla: Police in Gumla district of Jharkhand killed three Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) militants in an encounter. The encounter took place in the Kechki forest of the Bishanpur police station area of the district on Wednesday morning. The killed militants included Lalu Lohara, a resident of Senha in Lohardaga, Sujit Oraon, and Chhotu Oraon, a resident of Hoshir in Latehar. Sub-zonal commander Lalu Lohara and another sub-commander, Chhotu Oraon, had a reward of Rs 5 lakh each on their heads.
SP Haris Bin Zaman confirmed the killing of the three militants and said that three weapons were recovered from the scene. These included an AK-56 rifle, an SLR, and an INSAS rifle. Security forces are conducting a search operation in the area.
Earlier, Gumla Superintendent of Police (SP) Harish Bin Jama had received information that some militants from the JJMP organization had gathered in the Bishanpur area to carry out a major incident. Following the information, a joint team of Jharkhand Jaguars and Gumla District Police was formed. The team conducted a search operation in the area. As the police team reached the Kechki forest, the militants opened fire. The police retaliated, killing three militants and arresting one.
