Jharkhand/West Singhbhum: On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Chandan Kumar, work on repairing a dilapidated road began on Saturday in the presence of officials and public representatives.
On the spot, Sadar SDO Sandeep Anurag Topno, SDPO Bahaman Tuti, Sadar Circle CO Upendra Kumar, BDO Amitabh Bhagat, Mufassil Police Station in-charge Chandrashekhar, social worker Ramesh Balmuchu, advocate Mahendra Jamuda, and Pandaveer Panchayat head Motaye Boipaya inspected the condition of the road.
It is noteworthy that on Friday, thousands of villagers from eight villages of Pandaveer Panchayat, armed with traditional weapons, took out a rally and surrounded Deepak Biruwa's residence. The villagers demanded that everyone sit on dharna until the road is constructed. They stated that they would not raise the issue until the Minister personally addressed the issue. However, the villagers were unable to meet the Minister. Finally, the Deputy Commissioner met with the villagers, understood their problems, assured them of a quick solution, and asked them to break the protest and return home. He promised that road construction would begin as soon as the rains stopped.
After an inspection, a JCB was deployed to arrange for dust, gravel, sand, and stones to repair the road. Officials stated that until the Road Division commences work on the paved road, traffic will be maintained through alternative arrangements.
Speaking to reporters, SDO Sandeep Anurag Topno stated that the villagers' demands were justified. The road had deteriorated significantly, causing traffic problems. Work began as soon as the rains stopped. He added that the road would be paved as soon as the Forest Department received a No-Obligation Certificate (NOC). A large number of villagers were also present at the scene.
