Railway court sentences Bir Bahadur Sahni to 6 years in four sections in rail ticket fraud case

 

Ranchi: The court of Railway Judicial Magistrate Bijay Kumar Yadav of Ranchi on Tuesday, August 5, convicted Bir Bahadur Sahni, the accused in jail, for committing fraud by forging railway tickets, and sentenced him to two years and one year each under four different sections. All the sentences will run separately. That is, the accused will have to serve a total sentence of 6 years. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on him. This fine is to be paid to South-East Railway. Bir Bahadur Sahni, a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, was cheating innocent passengers for a long time by forging general class tickets at Hatia and other major railway stations of the country.

   In a joint operation by Railway Protection Force Hatia and CBI Ranchi, he was arrested on 8 December 2024 near the UTS counter of Hatia station. 09 fake tickets, 70 micro rubber stamps, ink pad, ticket cutting equipment, mobile, SIM card and Aadhar card were recovered from him. He used to take tickets of short distance stations and forge them in the lounge with rubber stamps, ink and other equipment. The case was investigated by Sub Inspector Albina Kerketta and the court pronounced this sentence after the charges were proved. The case was related to the revenue loss of the railways and cheating with the passengers. During the hearing of the case, APP Panchanand Kumar recorded 11 witnesses in the court. The accused has been in jail since his arrest.
