Malaysia team reaches India for Hero Asia Cup 2025

Rajgir: The Malaysian team reached Rajgir on Saturday morning for the prestigious Hero Asia Cup 2025 to be held in Bihar. The tournament will start on August 29 and will run till September 7. The Malaysian team was given a warm welcome on its arrival here.

Last time in the final held in Jakarta, Malaysia had to face a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Korea, but this time Malaysian captain Marhan Jalil clearly said that the team has come with the intention of winning. He said, "I am very excited to come to Rajgir. Our preparations have been good and we are expecting a great tournament. It will not be easy to defeat hosts India as they have played with many top teams in the Pro League and have great experience and exposure to international hockey." He further said that defending champions Korea will also be a team to watch in this tournament. He said that we have played against them this year and they are looking very fit and fast. Overall, our effort will be to reach the Super 4 first.

The team's head coach Sarjeet Kundan expressed happiness over the warm welcome and said, "First of all, we are grateful for this wonderful welcome. We are happy that we reached here before time and will be able to play some warm-up matches. We are a young team and our goal is to prepare for the 2028 Olympics and next year's Asian Games. Recently we visited Australia and Korea and also have to play the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament. Our aim here is to play well. We are the second seeded team in this competition and hope to win a medal."
