At the same time, the historic Jagarnathpur temple complex in Dhurva has also been affected. Deep cracks have appeared on the road leading to the main temple, while the railings on the stairs of the temple have collapsed and started shaking. Many railings have sunk into the ground. This has created an atmosphere of fear among the people living in the temple complex and nearby. Local people are expressing apprehension that the pressure of continuous rains and rising water from the dam can make the situation more serious.
The first servant cum member of Jagarnath Temple Justice Committee and direct heir of Barkagarh State, Thakur Sudhanshu Nath Shahdev, has demanded the district administration and the government to make immediate security arrangements by conducting a quick inspection. He said that the road and stairs should be repaired immediately so that the movement of devotees remains smooth. He reminded that a huge crowd of devotees gathers in the temple on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Ekadashi and Poornima. In such a situation, it is imperative to take steps to improve the situation immediately.
